Asking for your help, 7 girls in need

Monday, October 19th, 2009

family-th1I don’t get too serious here very often. Scan down to my last post (Apache) and you’ll see that. But something happened last week that was very sudden and tragic. A former teammate of mine, and just about the nicest guy I’ve ever met, Naki Maile passes away suddenly. He was in his early 30’s. Even worse still is Naki leaves behind his beautiful wife Abby and 6 little girls. I’m the father of 2 girls myself and I just can’t imagine what it must be like for them to lose their father without warning. To make things worse Naki did not have life insurance, and his girls are going to need help. I know times are hard for everyone out there, but I just ask that you would take a look at this situation, search your heart and do whatever you feel like you can do. My goal would be to raise enough money to pay off the mortgage on their very modest house so that at least those 6 wonderful little girls don’t have to worry about a roof over their head. Thank you for any help you might be able to give. My heart and prayers go out to the Maile family and everyone who finds it in your heart to help. God Bless you. I hope at the very least this story makes you go home and hug your wife and children. Donations can be made directly on the website linked above or right here, or you can go to any Wells Fargo location and donate under the “Naki Maile Family” fund. Anything helps. You can also view the girls blog for any updates and to learn more about this wonderfull family.

A listener just sent this in, and I don’t know really what to say. But here it is…..and your welcome

The INT that never was

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Yet another crack job by the Pac-10 officals who reviewed this play in the UW Arizona game and concluded that the ball didn’t hit the ground and was a solid pick 6 that cost Arizona the game. Way to go guys.

Music video of the day

Your Welcome. By the way, the song kicks a little ass as well. The “From Dusk Till Dawn” soundtrack is way underrated. It is worth a spin even without looking at Selma.

Josh McDaniels is becoming more likable by the minute

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Take a look at this and tell me if you don’t find yourself rooting for Josh McDaniel. For all the crap he took in the off season, it’s amazing to see him doing what he’s doing. Let’s give credit where it’s due. His Broncos are 5-0 including 3 quality wins. It’s one of the more amazing firs half stories the NFL has ever seen.

Zombieland, feel good movie of the year!! And my new shotgun!

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

I went and saw Zombieland last night, and all I can say is holly hell. It was everything I hoped it would be and then some. About twenty minutes in my body Todd leaned over to me and asked if I had written the script. It was like somebody tapped into my head and put it on film. This movie had everything, zombies, guns, comedy, Twinkies, a healthy fear of clowns, zombie apocalypse survival tips and even Bill Murray. It just doesn’t get any better folks, if you haven’t seen it yet, take a look at the trailer and then head off to your local theater. This is the type of movie that has to be seen on the big screen with other people. And to be honest with you, this is more of a buddy road trip movie than it is a zombie flick. You’ll be surprised by how little zombies there are in this one. It’s as much fun at the movies I’ve had in a long time.

PS –on a side note I thought it was fantastic that the day after seeing Zombieland my guys down at LuckyLoan gave me a call and told me they just took in a new riot shotgun that now resides in the trunk of my car. It’s like the universe aligned for me on this one. After all if Zombieland has taught me anything it’s to be prepared with a good shotgun. It’s also fantastic every time I buy a gun from LuckyLoan that I get to walk down the street in downtown Vancouver carrying a shotgun, It feels creepy and badass all at the same time. Gotta Love the Pawn Shop, everybody should have one, mine is the LuckyLoan in the Couve, go check em out and tell em I sent you. Ask for Dan, he’s the man.
